Debt management companies

With January 2009 nearly upon us I started thinking about the likelihood of people needing help with personal finance issues. I’m thinking debt management here in particular . . . I imagine that many consumers will have over spent in the Christmas period and that a few will wake up with a bit of a financial hangover.

I put together a quick list of useful debt management resources where my readers will be able to find lots of useful information on personal debt and debt management issues. Please note that I’m not endorsing any of the resources . . . they’re just a list of useful websites I found when researching debt management.

The sites are a mix of commercial, not-for profit and informational resources offering a wide range of help and advice with debt management, including debt management plans, free debt management plans and general personal finance advice.

PS: from what I understand, debt management is the process of negotiating reduced monthly payments on your debts with your creditors. It appears that there are two or three routes you can take depending on your needs - professional services (fee payable), voluntary services & do it yourself:
